MADELEINE CORDES set up Maddie4Music in 2011.

Maddie grew up in a musical family with her mother as a pianist and singer and Maddie was immersed in music making as a child with her violin, piano and singing through private lessons, exams, youth orchestras, choirs, competitive music festivals, summer schools, family recitals and support with practice.

Through her 20s and 30s Maddie enjoyed continuing to make music, primarily as a member of top London choirs and accompanying her husband Gary in his singing performances and preparation.

Harbouring a desire over a number of years to move into teaching, following a long career in business, in 2010 Maddie went back to college to study for a Music Diploma from Canterbury Christchurch University, which included solo and ensemble performing, improvisation, conducting and vocal leadership, music theory, composition, aural and harmony.

Maddie was the singing teacher for DAPA and Razzamataz and is currently a member of the London Philharmonic Choir, singing at the Dr Who Prom and Carmina Burana at the Royal Festival Hall. She was previously a member of the Choir of the Orchestra of St Johns Smith Square and the Royal Choral Society. Her singing and teaching experience ranges from acapella singing in chamber choirs, summer music workshops to pop and musical theatre and piano accompaniment. Maddie runs a singing group for talented youngsters aged 9-18 supported by adult mentor musicians and music teachers which performs at high profile events and venues - Maddie’s Melody Makers - and an open access choir for adults, the Landmark Show Choir.

She is a violinist in the Revelations Strings orchestra and the Dover Prom band. Maddie also provides quality music and movement education for children teaching classroom music in local primary schools.

Maddie teaches voice, violin and piano on a one to one basis from her home studio in Kingsdown, in local primary schools through Make Time for Music and at the A to G studio in Dover, specialising in adult beginners and young children at the start of their musical journey, including preparation for graded exams and college and talent show auditions such as Britain’s Got Talent, X Factor and Youthy’s Got Talent in Dover.

Maddie is passionate about sharing the benefits of music making with others whilst benefiting the community and building confidence and musicianship. She regularly organises fundraising events such as the quarterly Live Lounge hosted by her family in Kingsdown.

Maddie is very grateful to her family for their support in her musical teaching activities and to the parents of her young students for their ongoing help with performance and rehearsal logistics and the development of Maddie4Music.
